ST. LOUIS (AP) _ With the forecast calling for sub-freezing temperatures this week, St. Louis County is opening two centers for residents in need of warm sleeping accommodations.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Affton Community Center and the St. Vincent Community Center are open to the public from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Officials say medical care also will be available at both warming sites. St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger says the sites will remain open as long as temperatures are near or below 20 degrees.
A high temperature at or below freezing is expected at least through Friday. Lows are expected to hover around the teens and bottom out at 3 degrees overnight Wednesday.
