BRENTWOOD, MO (KTVI)-They may never know “Where's the beef,” but investigators have found a stolen Brentwood delivery truck.
Michael Mancil, 24, of Cedar Hill, MO, is under arrest for stealing more than $1,000 worth of steak from the Iowa Steak Co. On December 30, 2014, he allegedly hopped into the company truck loaded down with meat, drove off, and never came back.
Company employees take deliveries out on a consignment basis, meaning that items signed out at the beginning of the day must be paid for at the end of the day.
On Saturday, Brentwood identified Mancil was the beef thief. He allegedly took off with sixty two boxes of steaks, valued at nearly $1,200. The case broke when officials found the truck using GPS. It was located in Jefferson County and apparently the suspect wasn't far way.
Court documents say Mancil has admitted to selling all is steaks, but spending the money himself rather than paying his employer for the meat.
Mancil is charged with a Class C felony in the case. As for the steaks, they’ve apparently long since been eaten.
