Mourners gather on 6-month anniversary of Brown’s death
FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) _ Mourners marked the 6-month anniversary of Michael Brown’s death with a small ceremony at the Ferguson apartment complex where he died in a police shooting.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that about 30 people gathered Monday night at the Canfield Green apartments where Brown was shot to death on August 9, 2014. The crowd included his grandmother, a Canfield Green resident.
The group lit candles, sang and prayed at a roadside memorial made of stuffed animals, flowers and other items. After the vigil, some participants demonstrated outside the Ferguson Police Department. Police arrested several protesters.
In St. Louis, police shooting protesters left a fake coffin on Mayor Francis Slay’s front porch as part of a demonstration in support of a proposed ivilian police oversight board in the city.
