FERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – The unrest in Ferguson prompts a youth leadership summit Wednesday in St. Louis. The goal is to educate African-American teens about their rights when interacting with law enforcement officers, government and the judicial system. They’ll also receive guidance about financial responsibility, self esteem, health and wellness.

Mayor Francis Slay is among the scheduled speakers. The event began at 9am and runs until 1pm at the Omega Center on Goodfellow Boulevard.

More than 100 students from 14 area high schools will gather for another student summit on race at Ritenour High School.
