Homeowner dies after minivan hits snow bank, goes airborne and crashes into home

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA — One person is dead following an accident where a minivan slammed into a house. Authorities say the minivan veered off the road and hit a snow bank at a high speed. According to WTVR, the van went airborne and plowed through the home. The homeowner was killed. It is unclear if the victim died when he was struck by the minivan or when part of the home collapsed. Fire and emergency officials say the driver and passenger were transported to area hospitals with what were described as minor injuries.

Crews worked tirelessly so that investigators could gain access to the house.

Wreckage from the tragedy was scattered across the victim’s backyard.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
