Police: 13-year-old shot in head in Washington Park

WASHINGTON PARK, IL ( KTVI) - A 13-year-old boy from Washington Park  is  recovering after being shot in the head.  Police are still looking for the shooter.

The shooting  happened early Thursday morning  in an alley near a  building. The bullet pierced the boy's skin, but not his skull.

''Around 12:30 a.m.  a 13-year-old black male was injured. He was shot in the head in  the area of 1200 block of  Kingshighway ," said Washington Park Police Chief Aubery Keller.

At this point police have no motive and continue to look for the gunman. Residents would like to know when will the violence end.

''I wish the community could come together and live peacefully and grow and be powerful be as one  and just stop the violence," said Virgina  Nicholson.

Chief Keller made a special request for anyone with details to come forward.

''It's a tragedy for anyone to be injured but we have great concern for a juvenile being unattended at those hours," he said.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
