JUPITER, FL (KTVI) – The St. Louis Cardinals have made some roster changes as they move closer to Opening Day of the 2015 regular season.

The Cardinals announced the moves in a press release. Five players, non-roster pitchers Mike Mayers and John Gast, along with non-roster catchers Steve Bean and Alberto Rosario have been transferred to the Cardinals minor league camp. Michael Ohlman, a catcher, has been assigned to the Memphis Redbirds (AAA) camp.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said the moves were made because the club wanted to give these players more at-bats and innings to pitch in, something the major league club didn’t have enough of to go around.
