ST .LOUIS (KTVI) - St. Louis music legend Gene Lynn was laid to rest Saturday. Lynn was a longtime St. Louis former nightclub owner and one of the area's best known jazz singers.
He passed away last Saturday following a recent stroke.
He was born Leon Campbell in Mobile Alabama and moved to St. Louis in the 50's.
During his long career he operated several nightclubs bearing his name for decades.
In October he was inducted into the St. Louis Jazz Hall of Fame.
Lynn delighted his many fans over the years with his velvet voice and was often referred to as the "Black Frank Sinatra"
Today's service was held at Greater Grace Church in North County.
Gene Lynn was 78.
