ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Efforts to save a piece of St. Louis history are underway.

A local family has launched a GoFundMe account to restore an 1840s frontier home currently located in the Lafayette Square neighborhood. The Becker-Anthes House was built by Peter Becker around 1844, when the land was first being settled by German immigrants. Becker sold the home and surrounding property to George Anthes, who lived in the home with his family for the next 56 years.

In addition to restoration, the goal of the GoFundMe page is to convert the home, located at 1111 Missouri Avenue, into a public museum and education center.
