NEW YORK — “Fast & Furious” isn’t just a movie anymore. It’s a theme park ride. Universal Studios Hollywood plans to open the new ride, called Fast & Furious Supercharged, at its Los Angeles-area theme park on June 25. Universal Studios, which is owned by NBC, announced the new tram ride via video on its YouTube channel.

The purpose of the ride is to make the theme park guests feel like they’re zooming through a set on the popular “Fast & Furious” films, which stars Vin Diesel.

“They’re going to have the heat of fire flying at you,” said Michelle Rodriguez, a star in the “Fast & Furious” films. “It’s really a sensory driven experience.”

The next film in the franchise, “Furious 7,” is in theaters on April 3.
