Mascoutah house struck by lightning

MASCOUTAH, IL (KTVI) – A family is a bit shaken Tuesday night after lightning strikes their home. Firefighters were called to  for a lightning strike, but luckily the house was not set ablaze.

The owners of the home were watching the Blues hockey when they saw a bright flash and loud boom. The noise scared the family and they called the fire department. Firefighters found some burned insulation in the basement of the home, but otherwise the home was declared safe.

However, the satellite TV service and a flat screen TV were fried, along with the phones in the home.
