St. Louis man in prison for spending fake $100 at Sauget club
SAUGET, IL (KTVI) – He tried to make it rain and is now doing some hard time. Wade Buckner, 26, of St. Louis is spending 9 days in prison for trying to pass counterfeit bills at an Illinois strip club.
Buckner admits to passing counterfeit bills at the Oz club on March 7, 2013. A release from the Department of Justice says that he tried to pass a $100 bill to a bartender to buy drinks. The bartender immediately realized the bill was fake after he poured water on it. The ink started running off of the paper.
Security guards escorted Buckner out of the building and into the arms of police. They found another $400 in counterfeit money on the suspect.
Wade Buckner has been sentenced to 9 days in jail and 3 years of supervised release. He has also been ordered to pay $100.
This case was investigated by the US Secret Service and Sauget Police.
