ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - It's a problem that seems both unimaginable and a little awkward for us in the United States. In Ethiopia, menstruation is a taboo subject; as a result, young girls face shame and embarrassment. And for too many a life of possibilities are cut short.

St. Louis physician Lewis Wall and his wife, Helen, are working to change that. They founded an organization called Dignity Period, and are hosting a spring gala at the Missouri Botanical Garden to raise awareness.
