Fire crews respond to a home explosion on Washington Street in Venice Thursday April 23.

VENICE (KTVI)- Fire crews from multiple departments are on the scene of a reported house explosion in Venice, Illinois late Thursday night. They responded to a home on Washington Street near 6th after 10:30pm.

FOX2’s Vic Faust reports that residents in the house, a grandmother and at least three grandchildren, left the home Wednesday on a camping trip and returned briefly Thursday night before leaving again. Firefighters are telling us that neighbors in the area have smelled gas for days.

There were no reports of injuries.
