ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The Orchard Farm Fire Protection District is mourning the loss of one of its own. A 60 year old firefighter died this morning while responding to a fire call.

Larry Lawhorn was 60 years old.  The fire chief says he suffered a medical condition while responded to a fire call around 2am in Portage Des Sioux.  The pumper truck he was driving went off the road and ended up in a field.  Other first responders found him as they left the call in Portage Des Sioux. They tried to resuscitate him for about 30 minutes but those efforts failed.

Lawhorn was with the department for 20 years and before his time with Orchard Farm he spent 15 years with the St. Charles Fire District.
