SEDALIA, MO (KTVI) - The mother of a woman locked in a box for months says her daughter is in hiding. She is afraid for her life since her alleged captor is still on the run.

The victim's mother, who didn't want to be identified, says the love her daughter once had for James Horn quickly turned to fear.   The woman's five months of captivity ended Thursday on one of her rare times out of the box.   The mother says her daughter was sitting on the porch with Horn, and when he got distracted, she made a run for it. She ran to a neighbors and called for help.

Court documents describe the box as made of plywood with a hole for air and covered with soundproofing material.
