EPA starts new round of testing radioactivity at Bridgeton Landfill

BRIDGETON, MO (KPLR) – Monday a new round of testing started at the Bridgeton Landfill for radioactivity. The testing will monitor the levels of radioactivity, to see if it is spreading to the nearby West Lake Landfill.

Crews at the Bridgeton Landfill have been fighting an underground fire, and working to keep it from spreading to the West Lake landfill.

The owner, Republic Services says the Bridgeton Landfill is safe and stabilized.
