The Detroit Tigers came in to Busch Stadium on Friday night and smacked three home runs en route to a 10-4 victory. Yoenis Cespedes, Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez all went deep to lead the Tigers attack. The Cardinals got late home runs from Jhonny Peralta and Jason Heyward, but it was too little too late.

Carlos Martinez pitched the first five innings for the Redbirds, allowing two runs. He took the loss in the game to fall to 3-2 on the season. Relievers Mitch Harris, one inning, three runs allowed and Seth Maness, one inning, four runs allowed, couldn’t contain the Tigers offense.

The loss drops the Cardinals season record to 24-11.
