TOWN and COUNTRY, MO (KTVI) – A battle is underway in west ST. Louis County over a private schools proposal to light sports fields. Some town and country residents aren't interested in a Friday night lights feel at Westminster high school.

Wednesday night was a packed meeting on the proposal at city hall.

Westminster high in its second year at its new facility wants to put up lights around its main sports field and put in a new stadium public address system. But neighbors are fighting the lighting.

A three part upgrade plan calls for stadium lighting consisting of poles equipped with light receptors and shades to maximize light on field and minimize it to surrounding areas. The public address system would be designed for improved coverage for fans and reduced noise level for neighbors.

An overflow crowd packed city hall and those wearing red are against the upgrade plan with lights and they told the board why.
