Scattered storms Monday afternoon, more heavy rain overnight

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Hazy skies and a mix of clouds and sunshine through Monday afternoon.  Hot and muggy with highs in the upper 80°s and low 90°s.  Scattered thunderstorms will pop this afternoon and evening.

Overnight Monday into Tuesday, a cold front pushes into our warm and steamy air and we’ll see heavy rain and thunderstorms. The storm chances linger Tuesday and into Wednesday and that is why there is a renewed threat of flash flooding and river flooding . The entire region will likely see 2″ to 4″ rainfall by the end of the week.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of  Missouri as well as Illinois counties near St. Louis for Monday through Wednesday evening.
