ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- One man has been charged in connection with the accidental shooting of a three-year-old boy in north St. Louis.

John A. Pitts, 24, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree.

On Tuesday, July 21st, officers responded to a call for help at a home in the 1200 block of Walton. They arrived to discover the young victim unconscious and bleeding from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The child was transported to the hospital where he was listed  in critical but stable condition. Police say five guns were seized from the residence.

The is an ongoing investigation.
