St. Francois County child wounded in accidental shooting

PARK HILLS, MO (KTVI) – A 12-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday morning after accidentally shooting himself, the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department said.

The shooting happened prior to 7 a.m. in the 6100 block of Glore Road.

The boy was checking animals traps near his home and attempting to cross a fence when the weapon discharged. The child suffered what is being described as a “superficial wound” near the eye.

He’s being treated at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
