NATCHEZ MS – A mother wrote a letter to her adopted daughter when she was just 18-months-old. Sherry Blackledge wanted to let her daughter Brooke know how much she loves her. She wrote the note on a piece of her own wedding dress and saved it for over 20 years. She gave it to her daughter on her wedding day.

The Huffington Post reports the letter says:

Our Dear Little Baby Brooke,

As I write this you are sleeping soundly in your baby bed. You are 18 months old.

We just want you to know how very much love and happiness you have brought to us. You have made us a truly great family. A little precious baby girl to me and Daddy and a baby sister to Brian.

Before me and Daddy were married we always said we wanted a little boy and a little girl. When we were dating, we said if we had a little girl she would be a little Brooke. You are our little Baby Brooke.

Brooke, we just want you to know that you are very special to us and that God picked you extra special and he sent you to Mommy, Daddy and Brian.

We love you

Mommy and Daddy

Brooke says there is no word for the emotion that she felt after reading the letter.  She cried and was able to marry Tyler Zugg in Natchez, Mississippi. The newlyweds tell the Huffington Post that they are expecting their first baby in January 2016.

The Blackledges were unable to have biological children.  They adopted Brooke and her brother as babies.

‘The Film Poets’ wedding photography company put this video together. They write on their website:  “To me, adoption is one of the most beautiful things that a family can do. When I first heard their story, I knew that we had to approach Brooke & Tyler’s film differently. It was truly an honor to be a part of this. –Matt”
