Moniteau county officer involved shooting under investigation

CALIFORNIA, MO (KMIZ) – The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Moniteau county.

The agency says officers were trying to arrest a man at his home in California early Friday morning. The man had warrants out for his arrest, but police aren’t saying what he’s been charged with.

Police fired on him after they say he came out of the house with what appeared to be an assault rifle. The man is in the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

He is not under arrest at this time.
