MOSCOW MILLS, Mo. (AP) – Authorities in northeast Missouri’s Lincoln County are searching for a gunman they say randomly opened fire on a woman driving her car.

Sheriff’s Lt. Andy Binder says the woman escaped injury in the gunfire late Tuesday near Moscow Wills.

He calls the shooting “completely random and unexpected for our community.”

Binder says he woman reported that the gunman was in the road near a bridge, and that she believed he was going to try to stop her. Instead, she says he fired several gunshots.

Binder says nine .25-caliber casings were found at the scenes, and one of the three rounds that hit the vehicle hit the windshield.
