New program aimed to get minority youth to consider careers in law enforcement

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, IL (KTVI) – Tuesday the Illinois State Police and Fairview Heights Police Department announced a new partnership aim at minority youth to become more involved in policing. The aim of the programs to is to introduce youth between the ages of 14 to 21 interact with police officers and what they do protect the communities they serve.

The program is called Metro-East Cadets of Policing. Cadets accepted into the program will be exposed to policing, public service, ethics, integrity, teamwork, leadership, and fitness.

Cadet will participate in educational and recreational activities, while developing a sense of community.  Applications for the program will start being taken in October, with the program starting in November.
