Reducing infant mortality rates in St. Louis City and County

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - Every child should live to see a first birthday, but too many babies in St. Louis are dying. They're born too soon or born too small, and too many families have suffered in silence.

Flourish St. Louis is hosting a “community listening event" this Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Louis Gateway Classic Sports Foundation in north city.

Infant mortality is more than just a health care problem. Access to healthy foods, neighborhood and housing conditions, access to jobs and education, stress - these are all things impacting healthy birth and development. Infant death rates in St. Louis City and County are worse than some third-world countries.
