Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina underwent surgery on Thursday for a torn ligament in his left thumb. It's the same tear that limited Molina's playing ability during the NLDS against the Cubs. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak announced Molina's surgery during an end of season press conference with Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. Recovery time after Molina's thumb surgery  is eight to 12 weeks.  The Cardinals expect Molina to be ready for Spring Training 2016. Molina suffered the initial injury on September 20th in a game against the Cubs. Molina was injured on a tag play at the plate with the Cubs Anthomy Rizzo.
