LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A soaking rain Monday was the first of several rounds of rain and thunderstorms that will hit the St. Louis region through Wednesday. A second round of heavy rain and perhaps some thunderstorms will move in overnight. Rain will be quite heavy at times and will pose the first real concern for flash flooding of this multi-wave event.

Thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue Tuesday morning for a while before moving off to the northeast. There should be at least a brief lull in the rain/storms early Tuesday afternoon before the most significant of the rain and storms slowly translate from west to east across the region Tuesday evening into Tuesday night. This will be the most likely time for flash flooding.

Everything still points to significant 2 day rainfall totals of 3 to as much as 6 inches.
