ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - The season's first snowfall didn't delay thousands of scouts who were Scouting for Food Saturday. They picked up donated canned goods today.
The annual food drive is a boom for the St. Louis Food Bank, and the kids who make it happen.
Bag by bag, and block by block, some 30,000 scouts and those helping them spent the day on the road collecting food for those in need.
It's turned into a massive, region-wide undertaking that is one of the biggest campaigns of the year for St. Louis area food banks. Some food pantries will be stocked for weeks or months off of the boys' work.
Saturday’s efforts paid off with over 1.9 million food items being donated.
You can still donate to the food drive, by dropping off non-perishable food items at any Region Bank through November 27th.
