Woman killed in North County crash, driver arrested

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- One person is dead and another injured after a car crash in north St. Louis County early Saturday. Around 2:00am, officers from the North County Precinct responded to a one vehicle crash near the 6900 block of Jamestown Way where they found a pickup truck had struck the concrete base of the electric signal located at Jamestown Way and Benham Road.

A 34-year-old woman, identified as Lakeisha Jones, was ejected from the front passenger seat and died at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 48-year old man, had left the scene but returned while officers were investigating, about 30 minutes after the accident occurred. He had suffered lacerations and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and detectives have presented the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Charges are pending.

The accident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
