VALLEY PARK, MO (KTVI) - Investigators have released more details in a St. Louis County murder-suicide. The adults found dead in the Valley Park home have been identified as James Delao, 50 years of age, and Kimberly Delao, 46.

The medical examiner has determined a cause of death after autopsies. Police say that the man and woman were both stabbed to death. Detectives have seized several knives from the home.

Authorities believe James Delao stabbed Kimberly Delao to death, and then turned the knife on himself, taking his own life.

The couple's six-year-old son was at home during the incident. He was unharmed. Police believe the stabbing occurred late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Officers originally responded to a welfare check call Monday at around noon after the boy failed to show up for school.

When police arrived in the 100 block of Carnegie Court, they were met at the door by a six-year-old boy. When they went inside, they found the boy's parents dead.
