SEDALIA, Mo. (AP) – Missouri authorities have caught a suspect who is accused of fleeing when a bailiff attempted to take him into custody.

The Sedalia Democrat reports that 35-year-old Jeremiah Jones, of Sedalia, was captured Tuesday.

Jones had been in court for a resisting/interfering with arrest charge from Sept. 22. Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond says that a court bailiff noticed he had an outstanding warrant for another matter and attempted to take Jones into custody. Jones is accused of escaping from the courthouse after a struggle.

Pettis County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Cline says Jones was found hiding under a couch in a house about an hour later.

Cline says officials are seeking an additional charge of resisting arrest. No attorney is listed for Jones in online court records.
