ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- A germ zapping robot is working hard at West County Center. The robot, R-2 Clean, disinfects surfaces from germs. The device uses an intense ultraviolet light, one-thousand times more intense than sunlight.

R-2 Clean will be zapping bathrooms at the mall from December 18th through the 20th.

"What it does is it penetrates the cell walls of those bacteria and completely destroys the cell wall infuses the DNA so these virus are killed so they cannot reproduce," said Jack Rhoads.

The robot, often used in hospitals, will also be on display in the center of the mall near Santa.
