O’FALLON, MO (KTVI)-Don’t let the stress of the holidays show up through your skin. Lack of sleep and indulging in party food and beverages can alter the state of your body.   Christen Michel is a esthetician and founder of the Christen Michel Glow Skin Care line and she has some tips to help your skin stay holiday party ready.

Most importantly, catch up on your sleep whenever you can. The exhaustion from the busy holiday weeks will show up on your face, especially around your eyes. Sleeping with multiple pillows and keeping your head slightly elevated will promote drainage of fluid around the eyes. Also, use “skin oil" under your makeup to repair invisible cracks within the skins moisture barrier, which will make the skin light reflective and radiant looking. Examples of skin oils are safflower oils and jojoba oil.

Another great tip is to drink peppermint tea the morning of your holiday party to boost blood flow in the skin which gives your skin a vibrant glow.

Michel's favorite DIY party ready facial mask will give your skin an instant hydration boost and tightening effect: 1 teaspoon olive oil + 1/2 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon baking soda. Apply to the skin and rinse after 10 minutes with cool water.
