PACIFIC, MO (KTVI) – Between 300 and 400 homes and some businesses were surrounded or inundated by the flooding Meramec River in Pacific. But now as the water begins to recede, there’s a mess to clean up in its wake.
This is the fourth flood in Pacific since the early ‘80s and no one knows if all the residents can afford to rebuild. Thursday was the first day inspectors and residents could get into the neighborhoods that took on water. It will be several days before all the streets are dry.
National Guard troops are protecting property and making sure only residents are allowed in.
