ALEXANDER COUNTY, IL (KTVI) – Major flooding concerns in Illinois as rising water from the Mississippi river continues to threaten communities. County officials say the river is expected to rise another foot and half before cresting.

Residents in the area are being told to move to higher ground because there are fears the water may top over the levees, causing more flooding.

The National Weather Service says there have been no levee failures but floodwaters have reached the tops of levees in certain areas, causing small amounts of water to spill over.
