ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - More than 200 MoDOT trucks and 450 employees are ready to help keep the roads clear of snow and ice. Crews will begin arriving at 10am Saturday ahead of the predicted change-over to snow. THey will use salt and possibly beet juice to melt the snow but they can't pre-treat the roads before the snow starts.

"Usually if its rain before the snow, if you pretreat with salt or liquid treatment, the rain is just going to wash it away." said Assistant MoDOT Maintenance Engineer Arisa Prapaisilp.

Prapaisilp Reminds drivers to give the MoDOT crews plenty of room to work, don't follow too closely behind and don't weave between the gang-plow crews.

For MoDOT and IDOT the more snow we get the less money they have for other things. But for private businesses, that rely on winter weather for profits, they are saying, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."
