ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KTVI) - Crews with the Metropolitan Sewer District are making repairs to an underground force main sewer break in north St. Louis County.

The break occurred along Silver Fox Drive in unincorporated St. Louis County. It’s unclear what caused the break.

Sewer service for homes and businesses was not affected, but there is an environmental concern. At least 50 million gallons of sewage did pour into Cold Water Creek. MSD put warning signs up in the area, advising people to stay away from the creek.

MSD has said there is no immediate health of safety threat to the public, but anyone who may have come into contact with the creek is advised to wash with soap and water.
