HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI) - More than a hundred jobs will be lost in the next few months in Hazelwood.  The Printpack plant is shutting down, and the mayor says he wasn't given enough notice about it.

The plant closing is a blow to the City of Hazelwood.  Losing the Printpack plant was something city officials didn't know about in advance, leaving officials with not enough time to try and get Printpack to change its mind.

Printpack is a packaging manufacturer with a large plant on McDonnell Boulevard. It makes packaging for pet food and other consumer products. It employs about 115 people. Hazelwood city officials say it appears the state of Missouri was notified of the closing two years ago; but the city didn`t get official word until Friday when they received what is called a warn notice, which is the worker adjustment retraining act notice, which is required by the federal government.

Printpack is based in Atlanta did not have any comment about the closing. But a notice filed with the state of Missouri said the closing he lane would begin March 25th and end by June 3oth.

Hazelwood city manager says they hope to redevelop the Prinpack site soon.
