ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Big changes are coming to a popular gathering spot in downtown St. Louis. Work began Monday on Kiener Plaza, the park surrounded by attractions like Busch Stadium, the Old Courthouse, and the Gateway Arch.

As part of the CityArchRiver project, the park is being redesigned to offer new urban park amenities.  No worries, the well-known “The Runner” statue fountain is part of the new plans.

Construction fences were put in place Monday in the parking lanes surrounding the plaza, blocking access to the area.  No lanes of traffic are being blocked.

The $19 million project is scheduled to be complete in spring 2017.

Follow the work and see the changes as they happen, by checking out the CityArchRiver construction web cameras looking over the projects.
