ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI)- Dental hygiene may not be the most entertaining activity to children, but a program developed by Delta Dental of Missouri (DDM) has been working to change that.

The mission for the Land of Smiles Program is to educate and inspire elementary school-aged children to adopt healthy oral and overall health habits.

Katie Chatfield, the Wellness and Community Outreach Supervisor for DDM brought the Delta Dental Tooth Wizard and his sister Tooth Fairy to the Fox 2 studio this morning to discuss the 14 year old program.

The DDM program is free to schools throughout the state of Missouri, and schools may request an appearance by the group. All children who see the show are given 'smile bags' and 'Healthy Smiles Toolkits' for attending.

Land of Smiles objectives:
• Dental disease is 100 percent preventable. The formula is simple.
• You need to brush twice daily, floss and use mouthwash.
• You should also visit the dentist twice a year.
