KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ A 29-year-old woman is accused slapping a Kansas City police officer’s horse during a protest of a downtown rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump.

April J. Foster was arrested at 5 p.m. Friday on a municipal charge of abuse of a police service animal. She was released after posting $500 bond.

Police say two officers on horseback were trying to keep a large group of protesters from backing into Main Street near the Power & Light District on March 12 when Foster screamed at one of the horses.

The officer riding the horse says the animal wasn’t startled by that, so Foster pushed it and eventually slapped it in the face.

Police say Foster was identified through the Tips hot line.
