BERKELEY, MO (KTVI) – A suspected serial burglar is behind bars after allegedly stealing from his own neighbors. According to Berkeley police 24-year-old Brandon Carnell is facing felony charges of burglary after hitting three homes in January, February and March.

Two of the homes were at the 8700 block of Kathylin Drive and the third was at an apartment complex nearby on Madeline Manor Walk.  Berkeley police chief Frank McCall Jr. says during one burglary he stole a car.

“It was a crime of opportunity in one incident no one was home and he had prior knowledge that no one was home another incident someone was at home. The vehicle keys were in the residence and he was familiar with the people he burglarized.” said McCall.

Carnell is facing 3 felony counts of burglary and car theft.  He’s being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $30,000 cash only bond.  Police also believe Carnell is wanted for burglaries in surrounding cities.
