ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney is returning to St. Louis for the first time since 2012, performing at Busch Stadium later this summer, concert promoter AEG Live and the St. Louis Cardinals said Wednesday.

Paul will rock Busch Stadium in St. Louis on Saturday, August 13. The concert comes on the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' concert at the Old Busch Stadium.

"Maybe I`m amazed but I can`t wait for what is coming up," says Mayor Francis Slay.

It took 26 puns and 29 songs mentioned by the mayor to lead up to a Liverpool related announcement.

"So call your Uncle Albert and twist and shout because Sir Paul McCartney is coming to St. Louis," says Mayor Slay.

You`ll have to excuse his honor as he joins a chorus of fans of Paul McCartney and the Beatles excited for Wednesday`s news, an August 13th Busch stadium concert.

"It`s a complicated arrangement to pull all of these trucks in on the field," says Bill DeWitt III/Cardinal Owner. "Then they strike it and move on. But we`ll be ready and we`ve done it before. Busch Stadium is such a pretty place in the summer. It will be the event of the summer."

The Cards play the Reds Wednesday August 10th and then 32 trucks will load in Sir Paul and his rhythm and blues. The almost three hour show called the 'One on One' tour brings an original member of the fab four back to Paul`s past.

"He was here in the 60`s and he also played Busch II in 1993 at old Busch," says Vicky Bryant, VP Event Services. "But this is the 50th anniversary and we couldn't be more excited of him coming back to St. Louis. We`re really honored."

Chances are good generations of gateway city residents will be up for taking a walk with Paul down memory lane.

"It`s Grandparents, its middle aged folks, its kids," says Joe Litvag, AEG. "He`s been playing a lot of younger demo festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza. A lot of the younger generation has discovered his music again."

So look for old and new and longtime fans to fill up Busch Stadium August 13th.

"It`ll be all I got to do that day so don`t bother me then," says Mayor Slay.

Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 15 at 10 a.m. American Express card members in St. Louis will be able to purchase tickets before the general public starting Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. through Thursday, April 14 at 10 a.m.

Busch Stadium has previously hosted U2, the Eagles, the Dixie Chicks, and Dave Matthews Band.
