FRANKLIN COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – The eastbound lanes of Interstate 44 at Highway 50 were completely reopened Friday afternoon, one after a vicious tractor trailer collision, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

According to Jessica Hochlan, a MoDOT spokeswoman, the left lane of I-44 reopened Friday morning. The right-hand lane reopened by 2:45 p.m.

The collision occurred Thursday at 12:45 p.m. near the Highway 50 exit in the eastbound lanes of I-44 in Franklin County. Traffic was beginning to backup in one eastbound lane when one semi rear-ended the other. That semi then jackknifed and collided with a third tractor trailer. Two tractor trailers caught fire. They were both carrying hazardous materials, said to be paint and food products.

No injuries were reported.
