Construction begins for Civic Center Transit Center stop Monday

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A major change is coming for Metro bus passengers. The Civic Center Transit Center Stop near the Scottrade Center is closing for construction Monday.

Anyone who typically uses this stop will have to head over to Union Station and catch the bus from there.

Four different pick up and drop off zones have been designated along 18th Street and Clark Avenue. Eighteen different bus routes are relocating to the new area by Union Station.

Signs have been placed around the Union Station to help passengers find the new zone for their route. Shelters and benches have also been installed to accommodate riders. This construction will take eighteen months.

Only the Metro buses at the Civic Center Transit Center will be affected. The Metrolink will remain open but temporary closures may be necessary during the project. The stop here at 14th and Spruce Street is one of Metro's busiest transit hubs. The construction project will expand and enhance center allowing it to accommodate more buses, have a public restroom, indoor waiting area and digital arrival time board.

The Blues will be back in town for a game on Thursday. Anyone who was planning to use this stop to our from the game has to walk a little bit further just down to Union Station now.
