Straight line winds cause damage from St. Charles Co. to south St. Louis County

ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI) – Saturday’s storm started its rampage around 4 pm in Lincoln and Pike Counties and then took aim for the St. Louis metro area. Damage has been reported from St. Charles County, north St. Louis County, University City, Crestwood and Kirkwood.

Trees and power lines were downed by wind and tree limbs.  Some businesses and homes have suffered roof damage.

The strong straight line winds gusted up to 60 mph, and have left around 3,500 businesses and homes without power.  The hardest hit areas being St. Peters, St. Charles, Florissant, University City , Kirkwood and the Affton area in south St. Louis County.

Ameren has crews out restoring power, and hope to have power restored by Sunday morning.
