ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis native and Cardinals’ 2011 World Series Game 6  hero, David Freese, made his first on-field return to Busch Stadium Saturday. Freese received a 40-second standing ovation when he came on to pinch-hit in the 9th inning.

Freese, 33, and reliever Fernando Salas were traded to the Los Angeles Angels after the 2013 World Series in a four-player deal that brought Randal Grichuk and Peter Bourjos to St. Louis.  Freese was a Free Agent after the end of the 2015 season and the Pittsburgh Pirates signed him to a one-year deal this past March.
