ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A giant tree felled by high winds during Wednesday afternoon`s storm damages three homes, one severely.

The houses sit side by side in the 6900 block of Dale Ave.

No one was home at the house with the worst damage, except for the family dog, a German Shepherd mix named Jack who had to be rescued by the fire department`s Collapse Rescue Task Force who heard him whimpering and cleared away the rubble to free him.

Jack was not hurt, and neither was anybody else.

The homeowner of the house with the worst damage says her neighbor's tree had been slowly dying but that the owner had been cutting off the dead wood.

There was one person home in the third house damaged but he was in the basement during in storm.
